Microbiome Self-Experiment - HBOT and Berberis darwinni

Testing the impacts of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Berberis darwinni on my gut microbiome. The Exocyst was born from personal difficulty - experiencing severe adverse effects from NHS-prescribed, but forgotten-to-be-reviewed ADHD meds with long-lasting impacts both mentally and physically. Dealing with an aftermath of funny symptoms including brain fog, fatigue and a retaliating immune system  I self-experimented to find a curing lifestyle and natural remedies. Near-pastoralist and mesolithic diets, all sorts of plant extracts and finally jiu-jitsu. I figured a low-FODMAP, glutenfree also decreased  ADHD symptoms like irritability. But with remnant lingering body inflammation and a sports injury with a minimal chance of spontaneous recovery I decided to give hyperbaric oxygen therapy ago. By breathing in 100% oxygen under pressure this is meant to push increased oxygen into tissue thereby lowering all sorts of inflammatory response. With the long-had desire to test my gut microbiome I decided to test HBOT and the extract of Berberis darwinni on my microbiome.

Disclaimer: This is not an encouragement to try this at home

There are 2 phases to the experiment, each lasting two weeks

Phase 1: HBOT and the Berberis darwinni extract 3 x a day 1ml

Phase 2: Berberis darwinni

Tried to record what I am eating daily, but gave up replicating exact meals (not organised enough for this) as my diet is pretty steady.  Since the HBOT tank is in Glengormley, I added a lot bike miles to my normal commutes, which may or may not have more effect than the HBOT.

Here is a snapshot of what I am eating. Veggies are mostly from Helen's Bay Organics, and I try to buy most other things organic, too. Few over indulgences of protein bars and the odd gluten-free brownie as the intense cycling made me crave sugar. 2-3 alcoholic drinks a week.

Diet is low in FODMAP, gluten-free and sulphite-free/ low.
